Recruitment
ASU is a major university widely recognized as a rapidly emerging research institution in the US. The Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) at Arizona State University, part of a university initiative known as Biomedicine@ASU, is in a major expansion phase. Fields of particular interest for new faculty include bioinformatics, clinical informatics, imaging informatics and public health informatics, as well as cross-cutting foci that interact with these fields, such as data mining/predictive modeling, and knowledge representation and cognitive modeling. The ASU main campus is located in the city of Tempe, in the metropolitan Phoenix area. The BMI department is housed on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, home of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix in Partnership with Arizona State University, and next door to Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), a leading institute in clinical translational research. Stimulated in large part by growth in biomedical research and health care, downtown Phoenix is on the brink of an expected dramatic transformation. The beautiful, new building housing the BMI departmenthas 44,000 sq. ft. of well developed, well-equipped space for academic offices and research, and is poised to play a key role in this transformation. BMI is in active collaboration with health care centers, consortia, and municipal and governmental agencies throughout the state, given Arizona’s shared commitment to collaboration and growth.
