David Kempson

David J. Kempson was hired as the CIO and Vice President of Technology for Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) in July, 2005 where he has been a leader in the clinical transformation from a paper based medical record to an electronic medical record. Before being hired at MIHS he held positions as Deputy CIO for Maricopa County, the fourth most populous county in the United States and as CIO for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality where he and his team received national recognition for innovation. He has served as adjunct faculty at ASU’s Department of Biomedical Informatics since 2009. Mr Kempson is also a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Arizona Air National Guard where he has continuously served the 161st Medical Group since 1988.
