Dr. Partovi is a Medical Director in the Division of Neuroradiology at the Barrow Neurological Institute. His focus has been to foster an "applied" medical informatics paradigm in which all medical informatics efforts are tied to clinical care and patient outcome. This patient-centric approach emphasizes the clinical aspect of informatics.

In 2001, Dr. Partovi was invited to expand his role and oversee medical informatics matters at St. Joseph's Hospital. In 2005 he began participating in medical informatics decision making for an enterprise of 43 hospitals across Arizona, Nevada and California. Partovi served on the initial Task Force that conceived the Department of Biomedical Informatics and was the first physician to be recruited as Clinical Professor to the department.
